Youth Policies

Due to the need for unity and order I have established a set of guidelines for church sponsored youth activities. They are based on common sense. Arizona state law, and basic biblical principles with the safety and enjoyment of the entire group in mind. It you have any questions concerning any of the policies please feel free to contact me to discus my reasoning behind them. Everything we do as a group reflects on the church, on Christianity as a whole, and affects the unbelievers’ view of Christ Himself. It is vital that we present a godly example in oil that we do.
  1. There will be no tobacco, alcohol or other illegal drugs. Anyone with a prescription drug should let the leader in charge know.
  2. Unmarried couples (ANY boy and girl) will not go off alone and there will be no physical displays of affection (PDA) allowed.
  3. No weapons will be allowed. If ANYTHING is used in a threatening manner it will be confiscated until the end of the activity. There will be no fireworks or fire crackers allowed.
  4. No swearing or foul language will be allowed. Topics of conversation (and literature) should be ones that do not bring shame to the name of Christ or to the reputation of our group. Only Christian music will be listened to and this will be done respectfully, keeping the others music preferences in mind. No electronic devices (diskmens. gameboys. cell phones etc if cell phones are brought, I will take them and it will require a parent to get it back.) will be allowed. Any item causing disruption will be confiscated until the end of the activity. Parents can call me on my cell phone anytime and I will put them in contact with their student. (520) 459-0980
  5. No males will be in the female sleeping areas or bathrooms. No females will be in the male sleeping areas or bathrooms. On overnight trips in room and lights out times will be strictly observed.
  6. All teens will ride in approved transportation on an activity. All students will remain at the activity unless specific permission is given to leave by the youth leader or their parents. When in a public area, such as the mall, no student will go off by themselves. Groups of at least three are required when we split up.
  7. No practical jokes. Failure to abide by this will result in the student being sent home at the parents expense.
  8. Modest clothing will be required at all times no spaghetti-straps, open-sided or bare-midriff shirts. This includes tube tops, tank tops, etc. This applies to both male and female. Clothing that displays distasteful advertising, slogans or pictures e.g. beer ads, crude art, satanic themes, etc. On over night activities no student will leave the sleeping area in their nightclothes. One piece bathing suits will be required (a two piece can be worn as long as it is covered by a colored tee shirt at ALL times, - any inappropriate one piece will also require a tee shirt cover up) White tee shirts will not be allowed for water events.
  9. A notarized medical release form must be currently on file in order for a student to go on an activity off the church property. (The exception to this is at a church member’s home when the student is to be dropped off and picked up there.) Our form has been developed with the help of a law office to provide the legal safeguards needed to protect both the church and the student in case of an emergency. An additional release form may be needed for a specific activity such as when we go out of state or the activity itself requires it (Such as paintball).
  10. Additional policies may apply to specific activities.
Our youth programming is strictly voluntary. We will not sacrifice quality for numbers. Inappropriate action, disruptive behavior or breaking of these policies will result in a student’s removal from an activity. By attending an activity we assume that you realize the importance of following the set policies and that you will obey them without complaint. We will attempt to keep disciplinary action in house. However repeated disruptions or disobedience, consistent inappropriate actions or attitudes, or any action that may endanger the student or those around them will be discussed with the parent. Disciplinary action will normally consist of removal from a specific thing (such as sit out the game) but it may also include removal from the entire activity (be sent home), a clean up chore (such as picking up trash, straighten chairs. etc.). or other such action as the youth leader deems appropriate. A problem with your behavior may result in you being sent home (at your own expense if required). If you have a question concerning the actions taken I would be happy to meet with you privately to discuss my reasoning or work out another possible solution.
